Youth crouching in the grass to pose for a picture with his black dog with white blaze mark on chest.

“I walked away from pooch with a lot more patience. The opportunity to work 7 days a week was a huge blessing too. I wanted to go to work, I wanted pick up where I left off the day before even though it was never possible. I wanted to go into the kennel and see my dog just to soon hopefully see him/her gone. I learned that it’s not a bad thing if a dog bites poops pees or barks. It’s recognizing why? And the problem solving part taught me that I can’t change what this dog went through or their personalities, but now I have to find them a home where they’re happy, comfortable and understood. Forcing someone to be happy without understanding their triggers and trauma won’t work out, like humans in relationships. There’s a lot I learned but I still look back every year recognizing that I’ve learned it from pooch or it helped me get through it easier”. -Salvador
